The Borrowers was commissioned by The Courtyard Theatre Hereford in June 2005. It was adapted for theatre and directed by Janine Sharp. The show included original songs and music by Ian P. Russell and was a huge success.

Janine set her adaptation 1943-1945 as part of the national celebrations to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. This is also a period of history studied by schools in The National Curriculum, a teacher‘s pack and workshops were included on request.

The production played at The Courtyard Theatre for their Book Week and then toured medium scale theatres in the UK until March 2006. The Stables Theatre Wavendon, Milton Keynes booked it for their Christmas season offering an alternative to Pantomime.

This year Midland Arts Centre (MAC) Birmingham, re-commissioned Janine to write an up dated version of The Borrowers especially for their Christmas season and to be directed by Malachi Bogdanov. This is currently playing until January 2008.
