Stig of the Dump was adapted and directed by Janine Sharp for Book Week at The Courtyard Theatre in June 2006. Set in the modern day this both hilarious and moving version, with original songs and music by Ian P. Russell was another sell out success. The show explored issues of materialism, the acquisition of “stuff”, and its recycling.

Barney‘s amazing imagination sends him on a journey of fact or fiction? One never knows until his disbelieving materialistic modern-day sister joins him. “Stig” appealed to everybody, the character became a cult and Janine was stopped in the street by people adopting the “Stig” stance and chanting “oogabooga” (and nowhere near a football stadium either).

The script is perfect for all seasons, especially Christmas; equally it could be adapted as a summer open-air event, site specific perhaps! Janine is looking for Producing Theatres who may be interested in buying this script, as it is “so NOW it could just run and run.” It deserves The West End, it deserves Broadway. Please contact Janine ASAP as “Stig” could save the world!
